What’s the Difference Between a Cocktail and a Mocktail
Mocktails are becoming increasingly popular. But what is the difference between a cocktail and a mocktail? Mocktails are non-alcoholic drinks made with fresh fruit, aromatic herbs, and non-alcoholic spirits, while cocktails contain one or more alcoholic spirits. Although cocktails are still very popular, Mocktails offer an alternative that tastes like a lighter drink without the alcohol. Let’s dive into what’s changing in the world of drinking!
My husband and I went to dinner in Sonoma last Friday, and I discovered a whole array of delicious mocktails on the menu. They were titled Free Spirits. One that caught my eye was a lavender grapefruit mocktail. It arrived at the table in a tall wine glass with lavender sprigs and a large slice of pink grapefruit as the garnish. It was also quite beautiful to look at. Even though we live in the middle of wine country, mocktails along with cocktails are seriously in vogue.
Many people are starting to pay attention to the medical news, which recommends drinking less alcohol. Mocktail recipes are showing up everywhere and are increasingly popular. Also, some people like myself still enjoy a glass of wine but love the option to moderate with a sexy mocktail!
What’s exciting about mocktails as they become more popular is a lot of creative thought is being put into making seriously gorgeous non-alcoholic drinks. For fun, check out the mocktail options the next time you are in a restaurant, or ask the bartender what the most popular mocktail on the menu is. Mocktails have moved far beyond the Shirley Temple.
