How To Make Healthy Rice Krispie Treats – Step-by-Step
Full instructions in the recipe card below!
- Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. This will make it easy to remove the bars after they have chilled.
- In a small sauce, bring the honey to a boil over medium heat and then immediately lower to a simmer for one minute. Turn off the flame and add the tahini and vanilla, combining thoroughly. You can also heat in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Pour the Tahini-Honey mixture over the Rice Crispy Cereal. Add optional sea salt. Combine the cereal mixture. It is thick and sticky.
- Transfer the Rice Krispie Mixture to the prepared pan and press down hard on it evenly. You want it to become compact. I used the back of a mixing cup to press the mixture down. Sprinkle the top with a layer of sesame seeds and press again. You want it packed in so the bars firm up.
- Cover the baking pan with parchment paper and refrigerate for several hours until it is completely firm. I also wrapped the top in plastic to keep it airtight.
- Remove from refrigerator and slice into crispy squares.
- Keep bars refrigerated or frozen. I wrapped each bar in parchment in a baggie or covered glass bowl. You can also wrap each bar in plastic wrap for easy transport.
Tips & Tricks
- For best results, press Rice Krispie Mixture down firmly in the pan.
- Refrigerate until firm for several hours before cutting into bars.
