Wild Salmon Baked in Foil with Capers and Herbs

Wild Salmon Baked in Foil with Capers and Herbs is flavor-packed, EASY, and full of healthy anti-inflammatory omega three fat. Olive Oil, butter, and fresh herbs make the recipe. It’s an excellent recipe for a crowd served with rice and veggies.

Wild Salmon Baked in Foil – Easy and Delicious!

Great for Inflammation – This recipe is a hit whenever I make it. If we have guests, I make two whole salmon as it gets gobbled up. Baking the salmon in the foil retains all the moisture and is infused with heavenly butter, olive oil, and herbs. Each bite is full of flavor.

Healthy Omega 3 fat – Wild Salmon is so good for our Cardiovascular system and overall health. The omega-3 fat in salmon helps reduce inflammation. I prefer eating wild fish from Alaska as the water is pure and free from pollution. I went to Alaska 10 years ago, one of Earth’s most beautiful places. One of my favorite meals in Alaska was a piece of grilled salmon at a restaurant near the docks. The chef told us the fish had been caught that morning. The taste was indescribable.

This wild sockeye Alaskan baked salmon is also fantastic the next day. You can have it with salad for lunch or serve it with rice and veggies. Another idea is to use the leftover salmon in pasta. You can flake it into the pasta with any sauce.

The Beauty of Baking Salmon in Foil

  • Salmon can dry out, and this salmon is Moist. The foil keeps all the deliciousness inside, and it absorbs the marinade.
  • It’s easy to clean up! The salmon slides off the skin, and you fold that foil up and toss it!
  • Parchment paper can also be put on the foil if you prefer not to have your food touch the foil.
  • You can use this method for any Salmon or Halibut.

Health Benefits of Omega 3 fat in Salmon

Omega 3 is an essential anti-inflammatory fat our bodies can’t produce naturally. Our fat intake ratio becomes imbalanced when our diet leans heavily toward Omega 6 with little to no Omega 3. This is easy when you eat, for example, a lot of meat, dairy, and chicken and rarely eat seafood, flax, chia, vegetables, etc.

Adding seafood into your diet a few times a week is a great way to add this healing anti-inflammatory fat. A recent NIH Medline Plus article discusses how more fish fat can help migraines. By the way, the white fat on the fish is healthy and tastes delicious!

How to Prepare Foil-Baked Salmon (Step by Step)

Step 1 – On a large sheet pan, place a large piece of foil on the pan. It should be big enough to fold and seal. You can lay parchment paper on the bottom if you do not want the foil to touch the fish.

Step 2 – Baste the foil with olive oil so the salmon doesn’t stick.

Step 3 – In a large bowl, make your marinade: Herbs de Provance, Capers, Olive Oil, Pepper, White Wine Vinegar, and Caper Juice. Whisk and pour over the fish.

Step 4 – Cut the cold teaspoon of butter into small pieces and place on the fish. I dot the butter down the entire filet.

Step 5– Seal the foil and Bake the Salmon in a 375-degree preheated oven. Cook for approximately 20-25 minutes until the fish is cooked through. Lay the foil-wrapped Salmon on a large baking pan.

Notes: The fish will keep cooking when you remove it from the oven. Open the foil packet carefully to release the steam. If you run a sharp knife carefully under the salmon, the skin will separate from the salmon.

Transfer Carefully – I use two spatulas to transfer the fish to the serving platter carefully.

Serving the Salmon

I love serving the salmon on a large platter with sides of vegetables. It would be excellent with my Roasted Tomato Recipe.

Creamy Pasta Primavera would also be wonderful served alongside the salmon!
