Recipe Ingredients

You’ll need simple ingredients from your local grocery store to make this Creamy Tuscan Chicken Recipe.

Ingredients for Baked Tuscan Chicken
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning blend – We used this organic Italian Seasoning Blend
  • Paprika
  • Ground black pepper
  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Heavy cream
  • Dry parsley
  • Cornstarch
  • Shredded parmesan cheese
  • Chopped sundried tomatoes – We used this brand of sun dried tomatoes by Trader Joes
  • Fresh baby spinach (optional but so delicious)

Ingredient Notes for Baked Tuscan Chicken Breast Casserole

  • If you have sun-dried tomatoes in oil, put them on a paper towel to absorb some of the oil.
  • You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken quarters. Time and final texture will vary.
  • The creamy spinach is optional, but we highly recommend it for taste and color!
  • You can also use fresh cherry tomatoes if you don’t have dried tomatoes.
  • You can also add a handful of fresh basil with the spinach.
  • If you want this dish extra cheesy, add a cup of grated mozzarella cheese at the end when adding the spinach.

How To Make Creamy Baked Tuscan Chicken Recipe- Step by Step

Full instructions are in the recipe card below.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Pour the olive oil into a 9×13-inch baking dish. It will help coat the chicken and prevent it from sticking to the bottom. Set aside.
  3. Mix the salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Paprika, and ground black pepper. Set it aside. NOTE: I like mixing my ingredients in a small bowl before adding them to my dish. This way, you will have a more even distribution of all the flavors.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in the oiled pan. Use a fork and poke each breast a few times. NOTE: For this recipe, my chicken breasts were even thickness, so I poked each chicken breast 4-5 times with a fork.
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on the chicken. Set aside.
NOTE: If you like to do meal prep, you can do this step in the morning or even the night before. Place the chicken back in the fridge until ready to use.
  6. Whisk the heavy cream, dry parsley, garlic powder, cornstarch, salt, pepper,  and Parmigiano cheese in a bowl.
  7. Add the sundried tomato to the heavy cream mixture.
  8. Mix until combined. The mixture will be thick.
  9. Add the thick cream sauce to the chicken.
  10. Spread the creamy parmesan sauce evenly on the chicken.
  11. Place the chicken in the preheated oven.
  12. Cook for 35 minutes or until the chicken has an internal temperature with a meat thermometer of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. NOTE: Remember the thickness of the chicken breasts will directly impact your cooking time.
  13. Once cooked, take the chicken out of the oven.
  14. Add the spinach to the top of the chicken and cover the baking dish for 10 minutes. This will allow the chicken to rest and the spinach to wilt.
  15. Serve and Enjoy!
