Recipe Tips and Substitutions for Moist Banana Bread

  • For excellent results, do not overmix the batter.
  • I used sunflower seeds on the tops to add a nice crunch. You can also use chopped walnuts.
  • Add a Maple Glaze or Cream Cheese Frosting
  • Add a 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts to the batter for a Walnut Banana Bread
  • Add 1/2 Cup of Milk or Dark Chocolate Chips to the Batter for a Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.
  • Instead of Gluten-Free Banana Bread, use a Muffin Tin and make Banana Muffins.
  • Sprinkle Sugar on top of Banana Batter before baking
  • Rub a small amount of soft butter into the loaf pans when buttering the loaf pans. This helps the banana bread slide out of the loaf pan when cooled.
  • To remove banana bread from cooled loaf pans, run a sharp knife around the edges of the banana bread to loosen it. Cover the top of the banana bread in the loaf pan with a large plate and turn it over. Bread will slide right out!

    1. Alex, Thanks for the question. I have never made this bread with only white sugar. You could substitute the same amount of white sugar for the brown sugar.
