Chicken Thighs with Honey Turmeric Garlic Marinade

I love Turmeric as it’s rich and delicious and hits a home run on the anti-inflammatory target! Melding the flavor and intense aroma of garlic, coconut aminos, turmeric, and honey created a savory chicken recipe that pairs beautifully with many different side dishes. You can combine the marinade and let the chicken get fancy while the oven heats up—no need to marinate the chicken for hours unless you want to.

Infusing a family-friendly recipe with healthy ingredients like Turmeric makes this recipe a star. You can pair this recipe with several veggie sides or a green salad, and it’s a perfect easy weeknight dinner!

Ingredients for Honey Turmeric Chicken Thighs

Easy ingredients are available at your local grocery store.

  • Skinless, Boneless Chicken Thighs
  • Honey
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Fresh Cloves of Garlic
  • Black Pepper
  • Coconut Aminos – I used Braggs
  • Optional Lemon to add brightness!

Ingredient Notes

  • If unavailable, you can use turmeric paste or curry powder instead of turmeric powder.
  • You can substitute Chicken Breasts or Chicken Legs.

Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is a member of the ginger family known for its healing properties. Turmeric is used extensively in Chinese Medicine and is being researched today for its anti-inflammatory
properties. Turmeric contains a polyphenol called curcumin, which includes antioxidant, anticancer, and vascular health and heart disease benefits.

Increasingly, along with using The yellow-colored root Turmeric in Curry, cooks recognize the delicious golden color and flavor of Turmeric. I love cooking with ingredients that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Turmeric is also used in an Ayurvedic Recipe Called Golden Milk, which I wrote about on the blog.

What to Serve with Honey Turmeric Chicken Thighs

The sky is the limit regarding what you can do with this recipe.

  • Roasted Broccoli
  • Rice or Quinoa
  • Roasted Potatoes
  • Cauliflower Rice
  • Marinated Carrots

Can you use Chicken Breasts or Chicken Drumsticks instead of Chicken Thighs?

YES! BUT- I would marinate the chicken breasts for at least 30 minutes as chicken thighs have more fat. You can also sub chicken legs.

How To Make This Easy Turmeric Chicken Recipe

Cooking Time: 30 Minutes at 425 degrees F. Pre-heated Oven

  1. Make the Honey Turmeric Marinade: Whisk the Olive Oil, Coconut Aminos, Minced Garlic Cloves, Turmeric, Pepper, and Honey until smooth and creamy.

  2. Pour Marinade over the Chicken: You can marinate the chicken in large ziplock bags or pour marinade over the chicken in a large glass bowl. If marinating for over 20 minutes, please refrigerate the chicken.

  3. Bake the Chicken: Place chicken pieces in a large pan or baking dish in a 425-degree oven in the middle rack and cook for approximately 30 minutes until the thickest part of the chicken temps at 165 with a meat thermometer. Turn the chicken halfway through to ensure even cooking.

  4. Let Chicken Rest: When the chicken is done, rest the chicken for a few minutes so the flavors will absorb back into the chicken.

SERVING TIPS – Serve with roasted broccoli as above or any veggie side. I squeezed the lemon over the chicken before serving to add brightness! We also made homemade coleslaw.

HELPFUL TIP – Double the marinade and use some for roasted vegetables and to drizzle over the chicken before serving. I also poured a few tablespoons over the broccoli before roasting.
